Sexually Transmitted Diseases

Diagnosis, treatment, and prevention counseling for sexually transmitted infections.

Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are infections transmitted through sexual contact. Syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydia, genital herpes, HPV infection, and trichomoniasis are the most commonly encountered STDs. Since these infections can be asymptomatic, early diagnosis and screening are of great importance.

Treatment of STDs is done with antibiotics, antivirals, or antifungals depending on the causative microorganism. Partner notification and simultaneous treatment are critically important to prevent recurrence and spread of infection.

Prevention counseling is an integral part of STD management. Comprehensive information is provided to our patients about protective measures such as safe sexual practices, regular screening, and HPV vaccination.
